Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat features the escapades of a curious cat with the childlike qualities of an eight-year-old, along with those of her friends and family, in the intriguing and unfamiliar setting of ancient China. Sagwa is an adventurous, independent spirit who sets out to explore the world and her place in it, even when it involves taking some risks. Surrounded by custom and tradition, Sagwa shapes her unique identity and develops her sense of self while she searches for her place within her family and her commuplace within her family and her community. This Web site offers materials to complement the PBS children's television program including games, stories, character descriptions, printable coloring pages, information about the book, book author Amy Tan, how the series is made, information for parents, information for caregivers. The series will debut September 2001 on PBS stations nationwide.
